Long Term Residency & Indefinite Leave to Remain

The rules for long term residency in Ireland and indefinite leave to remain in the UK are very similar. In both countries the applicant must have legally resided for a minimum period of 5 years.

In Ireland the applicant must have been legally resident on the basis of a work permit, work authorisation and/or working visa conditions. Similar rules apply in the UK. There are separate rules relating to other categories such as spouses and partners.
